Thousands of mining families, including many Bloomfield families, joined a sold-out crowd at McDonald Jones Stadium, as the Newcastle Knights took on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the annual Voice for Mining Family Day on Sunday 20 August.

Knights fans were treated to a great double-header, with the Knights continuing their winning streak by a 29-10 victory over the Bunnies while the Newcastle Knights women's team defeated the Brisbane Broncos 22-20.

Since its inception over a decade ago, Voice for Mining Family Day has become one of the most recognisable community events in the Hunter region, celebrating the enormous contributions made by mining families across our state.
