Bloomfield Collieries
In operation since 1937, the mine produces a variety of high quality thermal coals and employs about 100 people. With its Coal Handling & Preparation Plant and bulk handling services, the mine can partner with other producers to provide coal washing and handling.
Located 30 kilometres from the Port of Newcastle, it is one of the closest mines to the seaboard and export terminal.
Under Project Approval 07_0087, the Bloomfield Open Cut mine is approved to extract 1.3 million tonnes of Run of Mine (ROM) coal per annum. Bloomfield Mine is approved to operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The mining technique is a multi-seam, multi bench system, mining up to 13 seams or splits, utilising a range of heavy earthmoving equipment to deliver the run-of-mine coal to the onsite washery.
