Bloomfield, Proudly Australian
Mining and Beyond…
The Bloomfield Group is an Australian owned group of private companies which operates in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. The Group has interests in mining and engineering. It operates two open cut coal mines: Bloomfield at East Maitland and Rix’s Creek at Singleton.
Mining began at Four Mile Creek, East Maitland, in 1937 when coal was mined by underground methods and continued until 1964 when small areas were open cut mined (now known as Bloomfield Colleries). The open cut method has continued until the present, with underground mining ceasing on site in 1992.
In 1989 the Group was granted the lease for Rix’s Creek open cut mine at Singleton and the first coal was produced in 1990.
The company has consistently produced quality steaming and coking coals for export markets since 1958 and is established as a reliable supplier in the global coal market.
The company was a founding member and is still a participating shareholder in Port Waratah Coal Services.
Other business interests of the Group extend to heavy engineering, diesel engine maintenance, repairs and equipment sales, contract coal washing and bulk handling, bio-diesel manufacture, land development and motel operations.
